Quick start

From nothing to a file you control, in about ten minutes. You will create your SuperFile Account by reserving a name, sign in, add a matching extension if you want one, and protect, share and unshare your first file.

#1. Reserve your @name

  1. Open superfile.com and type the name you want in the reservation box. The register checks availability as you type.
  2. Pick a class. Individual is for a person, Brand for a company or product name, Institution for a public body (an Institution reservation needs a .gov or .mil mailbox).
  3. Enter your email address and press Reserve. A hold is placed on the name at once.
  4. We email you a 6-digit code. Type it back on the page. That confirms the mailbox, flips the hold to verified, signs you in and shows your welcome.

Your @name is free and yours to keep. Every person gets one free @name, for good; it is spent when you claim it, not while you hold it, so giving it away later does not earn another. A Brand or Institution name is a paid class and can be reserved as many times as you have names to protect.

#2. Sign in

You are already signed in after entering the code. Next time, go to superfile.com/signin and choose one of:

  • Email — we send a sign-in link that works for 7 days. Open it on the device you want to use.
  • Sign in with your phone — on a desktop, scan the QR code with a phone that is already signed in and approve.
  • Passkey — once you have added one in Settings, sign in with your fingerprint, face or security key.

Every path and every setting is on the Sign in & accounts page.

#3. Add a matching .extension (optional)

An @name and a .extension are the same string in the register, so when @yourname is available, .yourname is too. On the reservation page, or later from your dashboard, add .yourname (or any other available extension) to the basket. Extensions are $100 each, up to ten per order, paid securely at checkout when you reserve; the receipt lands in your dashboard and in your inbox.

A branded extension is what your protected files carry: report.pdfs by default, report.acme once you own .acme.

#4. Open your dashboard

superfile.com/dashboard shows your identity card — your primary @name with its registration number, class, wave and status — your names, your extensions, receipts and any transfers waiting for you. From here you can reserve another extension, transfer a name, add a passkey and see where you are signed in. Details: Your dashboard.

#5. Protect your first file

SuperSecure is where files are sealed, shared and unshared. It is in beta at beta.supersecure.com.

  1. Open beta.supersecure.com. Sign up with your email address and enter the 6-digit code we send, or use Sign in with sup if you already hold a sup account. Your workspace is at /account; the sidebar is open by default.
  2. Drop a file anywhere in the workspace. It is sealed with split-key encryption and becomes a SuperFile: quarterly-report.pdf is now quarterly-report.pdfs. Every page, image and video inside it is rendered by the protected viewer, not handed out as a download.
  3. Share it by naming people — an email address or an @name. Only the people you name can open it, and access is re-checked live on every open.
  4. See the trail: who opened it, where and when, and which unknown devices tried.
  5. Unshare one person, or everyone, in one click. Downloaded copies stop opening too, because a copy is useless without your half of the key.

The Protect a file and Share, see & unshare guides go deeper, and The viewer & DRM explains what each platform can display and blank.

#Next steps

  • Teams and organisations: compare Plans & tiers, then invite people; Enterprise adds SSO and compliance packs, Institutional runs on your premises with keys you hold.
  • Developers: the DRM quick start gets a metered licence in five calls, and Integrations puts protected uploads inside your own site.
  • Operators: On-premises install stands up the licence server inside your network in ten minutes.
