What file types can I make a SuperFile?
Any of them. Documents, images, spreadsheets, presentations, videos, audio, databases, and other structured or unstructured files can all become SuperFiles. If it's a file, SuperFile can protect it.
What happens to my file when I create a SuperFile?
Your original file is encrypted, protected by your sharing permissions, and assigned a unique identity. The file extension changes to a SuperFile extension, such as .pdfs, or your organization's branded extension. Your original file is never modified, edited, or altered. It remains securely protected throughout its entire lifecycle, preserving the content, formatting, quality, and fidelity exactly as you created them. Only the SuperFile wrapper and the extension are new. Every time someone opens the SuperFile, SuperFile verifies their identity, checks your permissions, and securely delivers the original file. You stay in complete control from the moment you share it until the moment you decide access should end.
What is split‑key encryption?
Split-key encryption divides the decryption key into multiple parts that are held separately. No single party, including SuperFile, possesses enough information to decrypt your file on its own. Every file open requires authorization based on the permissions you've defined, ensuring you remain in control.
Does SuperFile have access to my files?
No. SuperFile does not read, scrape, analyze, or use the contents of your files. We don't need to know what's inside your documents because our job is to protect them, not inspect them. Your files are encrypted before they're shared, and only authorized recipients can access them based on the permissions you define. SuperFile provides the secure infrastructure that delivers and protects your files, but it cannot independently decrypt or access your content. Your data remains yours. Ownership and control always stay with you.
Can I add or remove people after I've shared a file?
Yes. You can change who has access to a SuperFile at any time, for the entire life of the file. Add new employees, remove clients, or update permissions whenever you need. Changes take effect immediately, so the next time someone attempts to open the file, SuperFile automatically enforces your latest access rules.
Can I revoke access after someone has already downloaded the file?
Yes. Unlike traditional file sharing, SuperFile lets you unshare a file even after it has been downloaded, regardless of the device it's stored on. Every time a SuperFile is opened, it checks your latest permissions before granting access. If you revoke access, remove a user, or change the file's permissions, previously downloaded copies will no longer open once those new rules take effect. SuperFile gives you continuous control over your files, even after you've shared them.
Do recipients need to install anything to open a SuperFile?
No. Recipients can securely access a SuperFile using any modern web browser. For organizations that want a deeper experience, SuperFile also offers desktop, mobile, and enterprise integrations, but no software installation is required to receive or open a SuperFile.
Can I use my own branded file extension?
Yes. Organizations can reserve and use their own custom file extension, making every file instantly recognizable as coming from your organization. For example: • Proposal.acme • Blueprint.ford • Contract.nike Custom branded extensions are available for a one-time registry fee of $100 per extension.
